Signposts for the road ahead.
Short notes we hand to clients. Pick where you are in your project and the list narrows to what helps now. Use them freely, whether or not you work with us.
planningWriting a one-page brief
Describe the person, the task and the outcome. “A parent books a swimming lesson in under a minute” is more useful than a list of features. Add what exists already and any fixed dates.
planningChoosing a first release
List every idea, then mark which ones a first user cannot do without. Everything else waits. A smaller release tests your assumptions sooner and costs less to change.
designFive-second screen test
Show a screen to someone for five seconds, hide it and ask what it was for. If they cannot say, simplify the heading, reduce choices or make the main action obvious.
designAccessibility basics
Text contrast of at least 4.5:1, labels on every form field, a visible focus outline, and nothing that relies on colour alone. These help everyone, not only disabled users.
publishingBefore submitting to an app store
Prepare a privacy policy URL, accurate data-collection answers, screenshots for required sizes, a support contact, test account details for reviewers, and an age rating questionnaire.
publishingPlanning a calm launch
Release on a weekday morning, not before a holiday. Use staged rollout where the store allows it, and know in advance how you will pause or roll back.
itDomain and email hygiene
Keep your domain registered in the company’s name with auto-renew on, enable two-factor authentication on the registrar and set SPF, DKIM and DMARC records for your email.
itSmall-team account safety
Use a password manager, give each person their own login, remove access promptly when someone leaves, and keep at least one tested backup offline.
